Overview
Raw Material Source: Saw Palmetto Extract is produced from dried ripe berries of Serenoa repens, native to the southeastern US coast. We use mature berries from certified organic Florida bases. Raw materials are screened to remove impurities and defective fruit, delivering low-residue, high-purity material controlled for pesticides and heavy metals.
Extraction Technology: We apply supercritical CO₂ fluid extraction with low-temperature concentration and spray drying. The closed, sterile, low-temperature process helps prevent thermal degradation of the actives, avoids organic-solvent residues, and retains the full-spectrum berry lipid profile.
Active Ingredient Content: Customizable standardized specifications include 25%–60% total fatty acids (GC tested) and a minimum 0.2% phytosterols. Marker components such as lauric acid, oleic acid and β-sitosterol are standardized for batch-to-batch consistency.
Differentiated Advantages: (1) full-spectrum fatty-acid, phytosterol and polyphenol profile; (2) third-party tested to USP, FCC and EU food-grade standards; (3) customizable powder / oil forms and specifications; (4) low-temperature sterile processing for good solubility and formulation compatibility.
Key Active Compounds
- Free & Bound Fatty Acids (25%–60%) — the core characterized fraction, including lauric, myristic, oleic and linoleic acids; basis of standardization.
- Phytosterols (incl. β-sitosterol) — standardized minor fraction.
- Polyphenols & Flavonoids — naturally associated antioxidant constituents.
Researched Activities
Saw palmetto is among the more extensively studied botanicals. The following reflect areas reported in published research and are provided for formulation context, not as product claims:
- 5α-reductase research — studied in research for interaction with the 5α-reductase enzyme system.
- Men's wellness research — investigated in trials relating to lower-urinary-tract endpoints.
Application Areas
- Dietary supplements — capsules, tablets and softgels for men's-wellness positioning; the 45% fatty-acid grade is a common commercial specification.
- Hair-care cosmetics — anti-hair-loss shampoos and scalp serums.
- Functional foods — functional powders and beverages; compatible with zinc and pumpkin-seed extract in compound formulas.
