Overview
Our Bitter Melon Extract is a standardized natural ingredient derived from dried Momordica charantia L. fruit, cultivated in organic regions of Hunan (China) and India. Raw materials are selected to comply with NY/T 963 standards and controlled for pesticide residues and heavy-metal contamination.
We use low-temperature extraction, membrane separation and freeze-/spray-drying to maximize retention of heat-sensitive components. Production is GMP-certified and follows ISO 22000, with controlled solvent residues.
Standardized specifications: Charantin (1%–10%, HPLC), Polypeptide-P (0.5%–2%, HPLC), total saponins (10%–40%, UV), total polyphenols (≥4.0%, UV-Vis).
Differentiation advantages: (1) high active retention; (2) customizable specifications; (3) full supply-chain traceability with third-party testing; (4) good water solubility and flowability.
Key Active Compounds
- Charantin — core triterpenoid saponin and a primary standardization marker.
- Polypeptide-P — an insulin-like peptide; characterized minor fraction.
- Momordicin — triterpenoid constituent.
- Bitter Melon Polysaccharides — water-soluble polysaccharide fraction.
- Polyphenolic Compounds — naturally associated antioxidant constituents.
- Vitamins and Minerals — naturally present vitamin C, folate and potassium.
Researched Activities
The following reflect areas reported in published research and are provided for formulation context, not as product claims:
- Glycemic research — charantin and polypeptide-P have been studied in research relating to glucose-metabolism endpoints.
- Antioxidant research — the polyphenol fraction is studied in radical-scavenging assays.
Application Areas
- Dietary supplements — glycemic-support and metabolic positioning in capsules and tablets.
- Functional foods & beverages — fortification of functional powders and drinks.
- Cosmetics — antioxidant ingredient in topical formulations.
