Overview
Quercetin is a plant flavonol obtained by hydrolysis of rutin extracted from the dried flower buds of Sophora japonica. GreeneryBio supplies it as a yellow crystalline powder at 95% (HPLC) or 98% (UV), as anhydrous or dihydrate (CAS 117-39-5; C₁₅H₁₀O₇, MW 302.23). Quercetin is one of the most-studied dietary flavonols, examined in research for antioxidant flavonoid activity; we supply it as a B2B raw material only.
Applications & Formulation Notes
- The central challenge is solubility / bioavailability: aglycone quercetin is practically insoluble in water and has low oral bioavailability. Formulators address this with phytosome (phospholipid) complexes, solid dispersions, micronization / nano-sizing, or co-processing with complementary ingredients.
- Suitable dosage forms: capsules and tablets (50–500 mg typical); beverages and gummies need a solubilized or dispersed grade.
- Grade selection: 98% UV reads higher than 95% HPLC for the same material — compare COAs on the same method before setting a spec.
- Stability: store cool, dry and protected from light.
