Introduction of Dihydroquercetin (Taxifolin)
Dihydroquercetin (DHQ), also known as Taxifolin, is a powerful flavonoid belonging to the flavanonol subclass. It is primarily sourced from the heartwood of Larix gmelinii (Dahurian Larch)and Larix sibirica (Siberian Larch), as well as from French maritime pine bark and onions. Our DHQ is produced using a green, solvent-free water-ethanol extraction system followed by proprietary multi-stage column chromatography and low-temperature vacuum concentration. The final product is spray-dried to achieve a strict purity of ≥90% (HPLC) up to 98%, fully compliant with global pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic monographs.
Differentiated advantages: Unlike its structural analog quercetin, Dihydroquercetin has a saturated C-ring, which makes it more stable against oxidation and less pro-oxidant. It exhibits 5x higher bioavailability than quercetin in vivo, superior water solubility (enabling clear solutions in beverages), and exceptional ability to stabilize vitamin C and other sensitive actives in formulations. We use sustainably harvested larch wood from FSC-certified forests and non-petroleum-based extraction methods, ensuring zero harmful solvent residues (benzene, ethyl acetate free).
Key Active Compounds
The core active compound is Dihydroquercetin (Taxifolin) (CAS: 480-18-2), chemically known as (2R,3R)-3,3′,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavan-4-one (C₁₅H₁₂O₇, molecular weight 304.25). As a potent flavonoid, its activity stems from the 5,7,3′,4′ hydroxyl groups on a stable flavanonol backbone. With ≥90% purity (HPLC) and strict control of related substances (including quercetin <0.5%), our DHQ guarantees batch-to-batch consistency, high solubility, and no bitter aftertaste, ensuring optimal performance in finished products.
Benefits
-
Powerful Antioxidant & Free Radical Scavenger: DHQ directly neutralizes ROS and RNS (reactive oxygen/nitrogen species), including superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, and peroxynitrite. It activates the Nrf2/ARE pathway, boosting endogenous antioxidant enzymes (SOD, GPx, catalase), protecting cells from oxidative stress and delaying cellular aging.
-
Anti-Inflammatory & Immune Modulation: Inhibits pro-inflammatory mediators (COX-2, iNOS, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6). Modulates NF-κB signaling pathways, making it effective for chronic inflammatory conditions, joint health, and immune system support.
-
Cardiovascular & Vascular Protection: Strengthens capillary walls, reduces vascular permeability and fragility (vitamin P activity). Improves microcirculation, inhibits LDL oxidation and platelet aggregation, helping manage blood-pressure related, venous insufficiency (varicose veins, hemorrhoids), and reducing the risk of vascular wellness.
-
Skin Health & Photoprotection: Promotes collagen synthesis, inhibits elastase and MMPs (matrix metalloproteinases), preventing UV-induced skin aging (wrinkles, loss of elasticity). Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties reduce hyperpigmentation and accelerate wound healing, making it a premium skin wellness support and skin-brightening ingredient.
-
Metabolic & Liver Support: Protects hepatocytes from toxin-induced damage (alcohol, CCl₄), reduces liver steatosis, and improves lipid profiles by lowering total cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL. Helps regulate blood glucose levels and insulin sensitivity.
-
Sports & Muscle Recovery: Reduces exercise-induced oxidative muscle damage, accelerates post-exercise recovery, decreases muscle soreness (DOMS), and supports lean muscle mass preservation.
